The Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE®) Program

Discover effective instructional methods that can energize your teaching and help your students excel! The Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE®) program, the only professional development opportunity designed for postsecondary hospitality educators around the world, enables you to:

  • Share ideas with your peers

  • Receive recognition for your teaching abilities from students, colleagues, and the industry

The CHE ® is right for every level of hospitality educator:

  • Novice teachers who need to build their confidence

  • Seasoned professors looking for ways to revitalize their teaching

  • Industry professionals serving as adjunct instructors or lecturers at a college or university

The CHE® will be awarded based upon the candidate's self-study materials and assignments, participation in workshop discussions, and results of the written exam.

Topics covered on the exam include:

  • Understanding Adult Learning Theory

  • Establishing a Positive Classroom Culture & Communication

  • Effective Endings

  • Content Presentation Methods

  • Interactive Teaching Methods

  • Classroom Evaluation

The CHE® exam is a 100-question multiple choice exam that can be taken at the conclusion of the CHE® workshop, or within two weeks after the workshop with an approved proctor. A score of 75% is required to pass.
